HANLEY

Jennifer Rowell Thu Apr 4 13:52:30 2002
I am searching for information on John Connors HANLEY who was born in Limerick County, Ireland around 1825. I think he may have moved to Chatham Cnty. around 1865. He was married to Hannah COPPS who was also from Limerick Cnty., Ireland. They had children named Lawrence, Bridget, Mary Catherine, Margaret, James, John and Annie. John was in the Civil war. He enlisted in July 1862 @ Macon, GA (Private in Co. A of 19 Battalion, GA Cavalry). I cannot find out when or how he entered the U.S. His death announcement in the Sav'h Morning News says that he was "quite young" when he came here. He had a sister named Catherine who married a man named Alexander DOYLE in 1855 in Savannah. He died in March of 1895 in the Old Fort section of Savannah. I desperately want to know info. about him before the Civil War. Help!

Since my last query, I have found that Robert FAIR was a shoemaker, living on Saint Julian Street in Savannah. He had a son, Richard FAIR, that died March 19, 1814, one month old. He was married to Catherine, last name possibly BODELL / BODULL?. Probably was married in Savannah just a year or so prior to child's birth. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have not been able to locate census information for Chatham County that I could access to see if Robert and family were listed in this time frame. Any records of his existence in the Savannah area would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Louise Fair Henderson
