I am wondering where to find ship lists for the last 1800 and early 1900 for Savannah, Georgia. One of my great grandfathers brothers came to the US from England and it listed his port as Savannah. Does anyone have any idea where I can start to locate a manifest and ship name. Thanks Jennifer

I am inquiring about a possible birth of a Lillian Avaline RUSSELL born around 1880 in Chatham Co. Georgia. I have no other information on family names, except that she married a Robert Roland EVANS, don't know what year. She died in 1916, I think of TB. If anyone has any information on this person, I would appreciate it. She was my paternal grandmother and I have no family history. I am looking for information on the evacuation of refugees from Savannah by Sherman after it was captured in December 1864. My g-g grandmother Sarah WIGGINS and her children were sent from Savannah by steamer to New York City. They had traveled with Sherman's army from Emanuel County. They may have traveled to New York aboard the steamer "Rebecca Clyde" that brought relief supplies donated by the citizens of New York.
Any info would be appreciated.

I am looking for information about family members in Chatham Co. who were born there as early as 1715. John SMITH was born in 1715 and died in May 8 1770. His son Ebenezer was born 1736 in Catham County, and died September 30, 1774. in Richmond County, Georgia. Ebenezer had a son Samuel, who migrated to Connecticut or New York, and set down roots. He was born about 1766 probably in Georgia as well.

I would be grateful to hear from anyone who might have more information on this family.

I am looking GEORGEs that moved from Colleton county, S.C. St. George which was part of Colleton county and is now Dorchester county is probably wher the family started out. Dennis GEORGE was the head of family. His sons were Lewis Jesse, and James plus other children. Some of the family moved to the Savannah area. Any GEORGEs in your family tree?

Seeking information on a BLOUNT woman born around 1897 and gave birth August 1921 to a female daughter at Grady Memorial Hospital. Birth certificate says Viola BLOUNT. Child's name Myrtle "Sallie" BLOUNT. Myrtle was raised in Epworth Children's Home in Mullins South Carolina. She is 84 now and would like to know about her family. I am trying to gather information about my father, John WILDER, Sr. He was a black male born in Black Creek Statesboro, Bullouch County, Georgia, He had about eleven brothers and sisters James,Talmadge, Willie, Samuel, Priest, Grant, Ellen, Pinkie, Lucille and two brothers I can't remember. They were all brick laborers, plumbers and carpenters by trade. My father was killed in Garden City in a house fire that was supposedly an accident. Now I am told that it was not. He lived in Savannah and worked in the surrounding area. My mother said that there was several articles on his death because he was remodling the home of a prominent white citizen who had questionable ties with corrupt people of that era. Can you please help me put this to rest? He died in October of 1967 or 68. He was also a hog farmer who had several stories in the Savannah Morning News of his hogs always escaping while in route to farmers market. He was married to my mother Mary lou THOMAS of Statesbora, Ga. Please help.

I'm working on a research paper about the famous Irish soda bottler John RYAN of Savannah. No pictures of him have surfaced. Looking for pictures, genealogy, or information on John RYAN. RYAN was in business at two locations from 1852-1879. Has anyone seen pics of his business at Bay and East Broad or the Downing Mansion on Broughton Street? RYAN died in 1885 and his funeral was at the St. John the Baptist Church but do not know where he was buried. Any help with the questions would be greatly appreciated.

Looking to expand my information on Benjamin Screven WELLS born in Savannah, Ga Chatham Co 1856 Married Jane GRIBBLE 1880 they had 5 children. Married Maude HARDIN in 1895 and they had 8 children all in the Savannah area. With this number of children they should still have descendants in the Savannah area.

I am looking for information for the family of John WILDER born in Sstatesboro, Georgia. Child of Preist and Cordelia they had eleven children. Also my mother's Mom Ellen GordonTHOMAS born in Sylvania Georgia whose mother was born a slave. She married Pierce THOMAS and moved to Statesboro Georgia. John married Mary Thomas WILDER and had 5 children and moved to Savannah. John was killed in a house fire while remodling it in Garden City. The house was owned by a prominent white family who supposedly had undergound ties to a lot of shady dealing in Savannah. I am trying to bring some closure to this rumor that has haunted my family for ever. This was reportly a contract killing where my father and the owner were burned to death. I'm trying to secure old newspaper clipping and to see if any investigations occured. the accident happened in October of 1964 or 65.

I am looking for Josephine Jeanette WINKLER. She was born in 1825. In 1844 she married William Thomas MITCHELL. I believe he is buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery. I can not find her date of death or where she might be buried. I need this information for family medical reasons. Recently we were told that our family has HNPCC, a genetic mutation that causes cancer. My 27 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. Thank you in advance for any information.
