PICKREN

Bill Bartlett Sat Mar 12 18:34:57 2005
My great great grandfather (William H. PICKREN) died during the Civil War while at Camp Phillips/Camp Beaulieu (on the Beaulieu plantation). He died in April 22, 1862. He is not buried next to his wife in the family cemetery plot in Columbus, GA. I "assume" he was buried near where he died. I have spoken with someone in the office of each cemetery in Savannah and they all said there is no CW soldier by that name buried in their cemetery.

Does anyone know if there might have been a cemetery on (or near) the Beaulieu plantation where Confederate soldier burials were made? Are there other very old cemeteries near the old Beaulieu plantation?

Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks.

HALL

Gerri Mortell Sun Mar 20 11:33:44 2005
My g-g-grandmother Rose HALL lived in Savannah, but I'm in Massachusetts and have no current or foreseeable access to records. I've learned that birth and death records are not available for Georgia for the middle-1800's, but I did see, in a census index, the name Rose HALL in Savannah - specifically, in the 1870 census.

Could anyone give me information about this or any other Rose HALL from that time period, the middle to late 1800's? The only other thing I know about Rose is that she gave birth to a son, Stephen, and a daughter Mary, who married a Patrick J. MURPHY, either before or after they moved to Massachusetts. Rose might have had a connection to New York, but I'm not certain of that. I would appreciate any help - thank you so much!
