Begining about 1820-? we would like to know what is listed in the Chatham County census that would help us connect the names we have to parents and spouses. Also if they are listed in the cemetery records. They seem to have been in Chatham County for several generations.
Any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated. They are relatives.

BOSTOCK - MAHON

Marianne Tue Jan 10 00:57:17 2006
Looking for any information on Mary Catherine MAHON (sp?), mother's name was Rose of County West Meath, Ireland who had a home on Drayton Street. Mary Catherine married (date?) a Thomas BOSTOCK of Bolton, England. There was a scandal surrounding her death, in 1882(?). Their youngest son George was my grandfather (1873 - 1956). I know little to nothing about my great-grandparents due to the cause of Mary Catherine's death.
Anyone out there who could help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

ELMORE

JOHN HANCOCK Sat Jan 14 14:42:36 2006
Joseph ELMORE was reportedly born in Chatham Co.@ 1812. His father could have been William ELMORE, mothers name "Betsey". According to the 1850 Census, Joseph had six children, one was named John, born 1836. John is listed in the 1860 Census (at age 22) along with four of his siblings but he then disappears. Does anyone know what happened to him? Was his middle name Edward??

I have a John Edward ELMORE born 1836 NC in my line and am trying to determine his ancestry. Any lead(s) would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help John, St. Louis, Mo,

PICKREN

Bill Bartlett Wed Jan 18 20:20:54 2006
My great great grandfather (William H. PICKREN) died during the Civil War while at Camp Phillips/Camp Beaulieu (on the Beaulieu plantation). He died in April 22, 1862. He is not buried next to his wife in the family cemetery plot in Columbus, GA. I "assume" he was buried near where he died. I have spoken with someone in the office of each cemetery in Savannah and they all said there is no CW soldier by that name buried in their cemetery.

Does anyone know if there might have been a cemetery on (or near) the Beaulieu plantation where Confederate soldier burials were made? Are there other very old cemeteries near the old Beaulieu plantation?

Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks.

DENTLEY - Afirican American

Sherrie Dentley Sun Feb 5 01:06:29 2006
Hello, I am looking for relatives of James DENTLEY (D.O.B 1895) and Charles DENTLEY (D.O.B 1884). James is my grandfather and until last year I did not know he had an older brother. Census forms are so useful. Their mother was named Irene DENTLEY who died in the Georgia State Sanitarium in 1939. Also Mildred ROSSER is a distant relation who I corresponded with as a teenager. The only thing I know about Charles DENTLEY is that he worked for the railroad at the turn of the century.

I will be visiting Savannah this spring. Perhaps by them I will learn more about my family. Thanks
