EDMONDS - PANNELL

Connie Sat Oct 21 19:17:23 2000
Mary Elizabeth PANNELL married Frank Wesley EDMONDS; both were from Georgia. My father was said to be born in Savannah in 1902. His death certificate and social security application agree with Savannah. However, my father's name changed to Edwards later and some information on these certifcates are inaccurate (i.e. naming his father Edwards simply because my mother didn't know his family name and guessed.) They then moved to Arkansas. However, younger siblings of my father were born in Arkansas earlier. My father would have been eight in the 1910 Census; he's not there. He isn't on the 1920 census either, although the entire family lived in the same town and he married a woman (first marriage) there in 1925. Am trying to find EDMONDS or PANNELLs in Savannah. Chances are I have relatives there still. How far back do birth records or marriage records go in Savannah? Connie cedsweeny@yahoo.com

PATTERSON - COLE - BOLAN - GLOVER - LAWRENCE

Debbie Patterson Sat Oct 28 09:26:47 2000
HELP! James BOLAN (1734-1865) was a "wealthy planter" in and near Beaufort/Grahamville, SC. Married to Eliza COLE. Their daughter Marion Elizabeth BOLAN married William PATTERSON of Savannah.
I have much information on BOLAN and lines of his other two daugthers Amanda Malvina Bolan LAWRENCE and Jane Porter Bolan GLOVER. Have children of William and Marion Elizabeth, Census, tax records, shipping lists references, plantation at Richmond Hill for William PATTERSON but no parents, actual birth or death date. I lose him in Savannah 1868- his signature appears as an estate appraiser. I believe that based on BOLAN research PATTERSON may have been related to them or possibly the families were business partners.
Any help, direction, or theories would be much appreciated. Will gladly share any info I have.

AMBOS - GETZ - JERGUSUN - MILLER - SAWYER - THOMSON - TISDALE - WIEGAND - WOODS

Peter Nesbitt Mon Nov 6 23:06:15 2000
I am researching the descendants of Louis AMBOS, born in Zweibrucken, Germany in 1792, died in Thunderbolt, Georgia on 6/28/1866. Louis AMBOS was a nail maker in his homeland of Germany. He married Elizabeth MILLER (b. 1802 d. 8/2/1870) prior to immigrating to the USA around 1841. A complete family tree may be found at: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=ambos
Louis and Elizabeth had six children: Lena (b. 1832 d. 1872), Henry (b. 9/28/1837 d. 6/26/1914), Elizabeth (b. 1842 d. 12/20/1893), Christian, Louis, and Louisa.
* Lena never married.
* Henry married Louisa GETZ (b. 1/18/1855 d. 4/12/1905). They had three children: Louis GETZ (b. 2/20/1887 d. 12/29/1966), George Henry (b. 11/29/1878 d. 5/2/1947), and Louis who died shortly after birth. Louisa GETZ was the child of John Henry GETZ and Laura WIEGAND, and she had a brother named Henry GETZ.
- George Henry married Mamie Caren JERGUSUN. They had two children: Emma who married a TISDALE, and Louise who married a WOODS.
- Louis Getz Ambos married Lillie Mae THOMSON (b. 10/30/1891 d. 7/27/1984). They had one son named Henry Francis (b. 5/1/1918 d. 8/13/1983).
- Henry Francis married Lena Gertrude SEMKEN (b. 11/1/1916 d. 10/19/1999). They had six children: an unnamed infant that died at birth (10/18/1937), Lillie who died at birth (10/18/1937), twins Henry Francis and Louis GETZ (b. 7/31/1939), Lillie Frances (b. 10/27/1945), and Lena Gertrude (b. 7/3/1947).
* Elizabeth married William SAWYER. They had two children: Henry and Louis, both of which died in their early 20's due to Yellow Fever.
* Christian appears to have vanished. He signed a document giving-up all rights of inheritance, and that is the last known contact with him. He's my ghost rider and connection to other AMBOSE families.
* I have not found any information on Louis.
* Louisa never married, and died in Thunderbolt, Georgia on 4/12/1905.
If you have any connecting information relating to these individuals or surnames, please feel free to contact me at any time. Thanks, Peter Nesbitt - nesbitt@swbell.net http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=ambos

HARPER

Patty Hunter Wed Nov 8 09:26:20 2000
I am looking for any information on the family of Maude Blanche HARPER. She was born in Savannah Nov. 21, 1874. She had 9 siblings, I think, including 3 sets of twins. I do not know her parents names. Her parents were supposedly from London, but had settled in Savannah. They also had a summer home in Tallahassee, FL. They were travelling in India when they found they were expecting Maud. They travelled home, and she was born in Savannah. The parents died when Maude was a teenager, and she went to live with relatives. She met Francis James HERTY in Savannah, and they were married March 17, 1898 in New Bedford, MA. She never discussed her family, other than the things I have mentioned, but I don't know why. She died in Ocala, FL. in 1952 and is burined in the Herty family plot in Milledgeville, GA. Any possible leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...I'm running out of ideas! Thanks!!

I am researching the parents of John Herndon MERCER; I have his SS# application that lists his parents as George Anderson MERCER & Lillian CIVCEVICH. Other info shows his mother was Ann HERNDON, hence his middle name. I would like to verfify my info. I am a Christopher MERCER descendant b. 1612 England; through his son Thomas MERCER b. 1647/48 Stepney,London. I am researching to find if there is a connection of the MERCER families. THAMES - SEALE

Chriss Perkins Mon Dec 4 20:27:59 2000
On 4 Sep 1927 a 31-year-old woman drowned while visiting Savannah. Ida Elizabeth (THAMES) SEALE was the wife of Atlanta lawyer G. B. SEALE. The couple had left with friends for a weekend in Savannah. I have heard 3 versions of the story: she drowned in a boating accident in the Savannah River; she drowned while swimming with her friends in the Savannah River; and she died while swimming "at the beach." She was my grandmother's sister. I have known of this story for many years but have no idea how to find the true story.

Lisa Heavilin Bell Thu Dec 7 16:22:51 2000
I am looking for three things from the Savannah area; a picture of William A. Candler Hospital, a picture of Critz Buick, a picture of Dr. Oscar LOTT( I believe this is the correct spelling, but not sure). All of the above would be circa 1947, or at this point anywhere close to that time.
If anyone has these or can tell me where I could find them, I would be most grateful. Thank you, Lisa
