CARROLL - FRANKLIN - KIDD

Doyle Sanders Tue Oct 10 08:31:59 2006
John Wilson CARROLL was discharged from Capt Twiggs Company, 8th Regiment of North Carolina Volunteers (Infantry) in Savannah, Georgia after serving 18 month active duty, apparently in Georgia. He met Frances FRANKLIN sometime during his tour of duty and in 1815 they eloped and were married in South Carolina by a Squire KIDD. Frances was under age, fourteen at the time and John was 21 and her parents would not give their consent for them to marry, all this, according to her claim filed in the mid 1870s for a widow’s pension filed in Edmonson County. Kentucky.

I am in touch with my Kentucky relatives and we are all stuck and we are seeking any shred of evidence or proof on either of these individuals in Georgia, including a Squire KIDD from South Carolina. Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.
