Looking for any infor on the HUGHENS family. My Gr-Gr-Grandmother Mary Catherine NASH married Eli Smith "Smitty" HUGHENS and they settled in Fayetteville. HUNNICUTT - LOVE - INGRAHAM / INGRAM

Bonnie Lee Hunnicutt Sat Feb 24 11:14:47 2007
I am trying to trace the parentage of Dr. James Edward Petaway HUNNICUTT, b. 1805. According to the Coweta Chronicles, JEPH came to Georgia from Virginia with his young wife, Martha Lundie ATKINSON in 1833. JEPH's mother was a Methodist, Polly PETAWAY, and his unnamed father was a Quaker, as stated in the Coweta Chronicles. Nowhere (that I have found, yet) is JEPH's father's name mentioned, although he was said to be born in Virginia. The unknown father would, no doubt, have been "disowned" from the Quaker faith for marrying outside the religion. He, along with others, moved south through North Carolina into Georgia. Other families in the same area (Coweta) in the early 1830s were James LOVE, John LOVE and INGRAHAMS / INGRAMS. I believe these families are somehow related to my mysterious Joseph HUNNICUTT (supposedly a Quaker) who settled in Cobb Co on the Chattahoochee river and Powder Springs abt 1836. My Joseph HUNNICUTT married a Polly (Mary?) LOVE (supposedly d/o John LOVE and ? INGRAHAM). Joseph and Polly had sons, Calvin Welborne HUNNICUTT (b. 1827) and Eli Tillinger HUNNICUTT, (b. 1819 married Emily SILVEY d/o Drury SILVEY in Campbell Co in 1842) both sons were prominent Atlanta pioneers. My 2nd great grandfather is Calvin W. HUNNICUTT. I have been searching after this Joseph for 30 years with very little information. Now, I am researching this parallel JEPH family in hopes of making a connection. I am a member of Ancestry.com where I found the Coweta Chronicles, so I do have that information. Thanks, Bonnie Lee

Youth Camp

Linda Ginn Mon Jul 16 12:04:15 2007
During the late 1950's and early 1960's I attended for about 5 summers a Christian Youth Camp. All I remember is traveling down hwy 29 from East Point where I lived, toward Newnan and taking a right off of Hwy 29 long before reaching the town of Newnan. It was a great camp, we have boys and girls cabins, with a good size lake. I'm now living in Sharpsburg and when traveling on Hwy. 29, I often think of the camp. Does anyone know where is may still be, or was? I even wonder if it's around Lake Redwine?
thanks,

DELK - SEE / SEAY - LEE

Patricia Johnson Wed Jan 2 21:01:42 2008
I am seeking information on William S. DELK, born ca 1815 in Georgia. Known children are William DELK and Susan (DELK) married Jackson SEE / SEAY. (Have seen it listed as LEE) William P was born about 1840 and Susan about 1831. William lived in several Districts, Coweta, GA, P.O. Haralson according to 1860 GA Fed Census. Also listed was Rolucka DELK, age 39; William M. DELK, age 18; John F. DELK, age 16, and Nancy A, age 14.
Also found William S. DELK in the 1860 FLA US Census, District 3, Orange, FL living with William P. DELK, age 20; and Susan (DELK) SEE, age 29.
William S., William P., and Susan were all born in Georgia and apparently moved to Florida about 1850. He was a farmer in Georgia and stated both of his parents were born in Georgia and an Orange Planter in Florida.
Jackson SEE / SEAY stated he was born in Georgia about 1812. We have contacted other SEE / SEAY researchers and have numerous books and records on the various SEE / SEAY lines but none have a Jackson and when a cousin talked to her grandmother SEE / SEAY, she cried and thanked her for remembering the family but refused to provide any information and told her to let the matter go. The cousin suggested that she felt something had happened and they left Georgia and rather "disappeared" in the backwoods of Florida, perhaps changing the LEE to SEE. This is speculation. Whatever information or suggestion anyone would be willing to provide would be greatly appreciated.

COOPER

Deborah Edwards Sun May 25 12:01:37 2008
Trying to find the cemetery where Shirley M. COOPER is buried. She died on October 8, 1993, and was buried in a country church cemetery, but the children were too small to remember where. She lived in Newnan at the time and died in an Atlanta hospital --- probably in her 40's at the time of death.

TURBYFIELD

Summer Bellah Fri Jul 11 20:40:13 2008
Minnie TURBYFIELD was my great grandmother. The old story has it that her dad, Jack TURBYFIELD, went to get her when she was about 2 years old, after her mother died, and that her mother was a Creek Indian. Does anyone know anything about Minnie's mother? We'd appreciate any information about Minnie, Jack, or anyone else in the TURBYFIELD-COOPER family in Georgia. Thanks!
