HAYNES/HAINES, BROWN

LESLIE HAYNES Thu Apr 20 13:50:37 2000
I am looking for information on the parents and early life of John Lent HAINES. He was born 05/22/1847 and died 04/08/1879. He was married to Celia Antionette BROWN - born 6/14/1846 and died 7/01/1929. They had five children - Clifford, born 11/30/1868, died 2/21/1941; Elizabeth, born 4/21/1872, died 6/22/1960; Nannie Love, born 01/31/1875, died 10/03/1952; Horace, born 5/31/1877, died 1/04/1962; and John Jr., born 10/14/1879, died 12/09/1936. The original spelling of the family name is HAINES, but some of the descendants changed their spelling to HAYNES. John and Celia are buried at White Oak Church on Gordon Road. I think they lived in Coweta County most or all of their lives but I don't know where the family came from before that. Any information that anyone can give me on the HAINES/HAYNES or BROWN family would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to e-mail me with anything that may be helpful.

WILLIS, VINEYARD

I am searching for information on the parents of W T WILLIS (born 11/14/1844, died 08/17/1918) and Sara Frances VINEYARD (born 2/10/1840, died 12/31/1909. W.T. served in the CSA. He was in Company K, 1st Georgia Calvary. He and Sara both are buried at Cokes Chapel in Sharpsburg, Georgia. They had at least two children - Willie Bell born 11/15/1880, died 04/17/1881; and Claude Nathan WILLIS, born 10/25/1878, died 4/21/1954. Claude married Lula Dallas BROOKS, born 05/21/1881, died 7/14/1955. I'm not sure if they had any more children.
The crossroads at Lower-Fayetteville Road and Hwy. 154 was once called Vineyards Crossroads and Cokes Chapel is about 1/4 mile from the crossroads. I think the family lived in that area most of their lives. W.T. and Sara were my great-great grandparents and I would like to know where the family originated. Any information on the WILLIS or VINEYARD families would be greatly appreciated.

William W.'s son William who was age 17 in this census is the person I am interested in. He may be my ancestor. Does Anyone Know This Family and What Happened to this William?
The Tidwell Families book has this family in it but does not say what happened to this William. It lists William W. WESTMORELAND as the son of Reuben WESTMORELAND and Keziah Simmons. Reuben was born in 1770 in VA and died August 1845 in Cowetta Co., GA.

LEVELS / LEVELLS / LEAVELLS

b Sun May 28 21:50:41 2000
We are trying to find out about the parents/siblings of Jack J. LEVELS (1866 - 1917). He turned up in Walker County, Alabama and married Mary Lee CROW, but no one knew where he came from. Years later after his death, a letter came from relatives in Georgia trying to locate him, but we do not know who they were. We have discovered 1) that the name was spelled differently on occasion, and 2) a LEVELLS family was mentioned in the early settlers of Senoia, Georgia that fit the time frame (he showed up in Alabama around 1892). If anyone has any information that matches with this, we would appreciate it very much if you would contact us.

I am looking for birth and death dates and parentage for a John F. SMITH who married Elizabeth BALLARD in Coweta County, GA July 11, 1844. Is this the same John F. and Elizabeth SMITH who were in Campbell County, GA 1850-1880? Did this John F. SMITH die in the civil war as a guard at Andersonville Prison?
