Am seeking information on several KILGORE males, including John KILGORE (b. 1818, Hancock Cty GA) and Robert KILGORE (b. 1811, also in Hancock Cty.), sons of William Kilgore (1782-1872) and possibly brothers of Willis KILGORE. Willis is my gggrand-father, who lived in Newnan , Coweta Cty. from 1827-1845. John married Rebecca Ann TURNER in Coweta Cty in 1842. Robert received some Coweta Cty land in William's will, executed in 1872.

KILGORE - TURNER - WESTER

Jim Kilgore Tue Oct 13 17:11:59 1998
Robt&John KILGORE/Ellen Kilgore WESTER, all children of William KILGORE (1782-1872) were born in Hancock Cty, GA and may be siblings of my ancestor, Willis KILGORE (1804-1861). Their father may have been the same William "Killgore" who received lottery land in eastern Troup Cty (near the Coweta line) in 1827. Ellen married John T. WESTER in Troup Cty in 1842. John (b. 1818) lived in Coweta Cty, where he married Rebecca Ann TURNER in 1844; he died in Carroll Cty in 1906. (A different John KILGORE was born in Carroll Cty, also in 1818.) At his death (1872), William left land in Coweta Cty to Robert (b. 1811). Willis and Isabella Lindsay KILGORE were among the first white settlers of Newnan, GA, where they lived between 1827 and 1845, when they and their nine surviving children moved to Texas. If any descendants of Ellen WESTER, John KILGORE or Robert KILGORE have information to tie their family to Willis (e.g. wills, transfers of land in Coweta Cty which was previously owned by Willis' family, etc.) please contact me.

Please let me know if you have any leads to this lady. Thanks. Bill Mitchell

EDMONDSON

Mark K. Edmondson Sat Nov 7 11:46:53 1998
Looking for info on my ggrandfather Thomas Jefferson Edmondson of Randolph Co AL. We know from his CSA pension applications that "T.J." was born in Coweta Co. GA in Sept., 1839. However, we know nothing about his family, we know he had several siblings. He appears in Randolph Co AL in 1850 census along with his two brothers and a sister under the head of household Martha Edmondson, all listed as being from GA. Need to link this bunch with a family in Coweta Co. Best possibility may be a Joseph Edmondson who resided in Coweta from mid-to-late (?) 1820s until his death in 1858. Joseph is listed with his first wife and 7 kids (5 girls and 2 boys) in 1840 census, married his second wife Elizabeth H. Ragsdale in 1843 and is listed in 1850 census with this wife and three new children by her. Apparently his first family was dispersed for unknown reasons as two of his "original" daughters and possibly one son appear in 1850 listing as living with other heads of households and families. What happened? Divorce? Death? Joseph lists his origins as South Carolina. Anyway, am looking for the "missing link". Apparently, Joseph was from Gwinnett CO and may have been son of a James Edmondson who appears in 1820 census there along with a Joseph. Joseph probably married in Gwinnett. Any help appreciated.
