At least four children were born in Burke Co. before the family migration to Habersham Co., then Forsyth and Cherokee Counties. Daughter Sarah E. KELLEY married Joshua Calvin ELLIS (b. 1 Feb 1814 ?NC?) in Forsyth County 28 Feb 1837. The families were in Cherokee Co. at the time of the 1840 census. William ELLIS age 40-50 in 1840 also lived in the area. Joshua sold land to William ELLIS before moving on to AR with Hiram KELLEY. Elizabeth McGEE KELLEY died in 1846 possibly in Cherokee Co. Will exchange information with those researching these families.

James M. Thacker and Frances Ann Blanton. They married about 1852. Frances was born in SC and I do not know where James was born or where they were married. James was captured by the Union army and died as a POW at Point Lookout Maryland. They had four sons, James K. Thacker (b. June 20, 1853 married Cynthia Steadman), William Arthur (b. May 24, 1854, married Sarah McConnell and Mary Emma Spears), George W. Thacker (b. April 7, 1857, married Cassa Dilbeck) and Francis Marion (b. September 3, 1862, married Emogene Turley). After James death in 1864 while a POW, his family settled in Bartow County, GA. The two oldest boys moved to Alabama, but I do have been told that Francis Marion stayed in Bartow County with his mother. Would like to find out more about where they married, and who their ancestors were. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm looking for any information on the families of William Bart Pugh and Eliza Ann Wilson. They were both born in Georgia and married each other. I found a William Pugh, son of Alexander and Eleanor Pugh, who was born ca 1836 and living in Forsyth County, GA in 1850. Living right down the road from him was Eliza A. Wilson, daughter of Anderson and Savilla Wilson, born ca 1846. However, I cannot find where they were married.
My William Bart Pugh and Eliza Ann Wilson were living in Winston Co., AL in December 1865 when their son, John Philip Pugh, was born. They had two other children, Mary and Jim. Family history says that William Bart Pugh went home during the closing months of the Civil War to check on his family. He was at home when a cavalry unit rode up and shot him and killed him as he tried to run. I don't know if it was a CSA or Union cavalry group. I also don't know what became of Eliza and her children after his death. John Philip Pugh, their son, married in Winston County, AL in the 1880s.
Can anyone tell me if there is a connection with this William and Eliza Ann Pugh and the Forsyth County Pugh? Thanks a lot for any information.
