WEBB

Mary Wyatt Wed Apr 20 16:42:27 2005
I have been searching for my grandfather Arthur H WEBB for over 10 years. I have found him on the 1920 census living in Troup County. Also have found his draft card for WW1. His next of kin is listed as Mrs Elsie WEBB. I cannot find him in 1930. He lists his birthplace as "unknown" on the census and the draft card. The draft card lists him as born in 1884, where I do not know. I was told by a very old aunt that he had a sister who married a foreman of a cotton mill there in Troup Co. I only know that her first name was Ellen. I also found a man named Luther WEBB on the census there and he lists his birth place unknown too.
If you have any information that might help me locate my grandfather or his family, please let me know.
Thank you,
Mary Wyatt
Birmingham, AL

I am trying to locate any DURDEN family that may have knowledge of a person whose maiden name was Elizabeth (Betty) DURDEN. She most likely was born between 1928-1931.

If someone can provide me with the name and address of any DURDEN family there I could contact that family and through the process of trial and error locate a family that knows of this person that I seek to make contact with.
Thanks

BROOKS - SWANSON - THRASH - WALKER

Ann Lackey Sat Jul 9 08:59:29 2005
On the 1840 Troup Census , District 698, Mountville area, was a William BROOKS with the following age-sex categories:
Males: 1 under 10, 1 5-10, 1 20-30, 1 60-70
Females 1 5-10, 1 15-20,, 1 20-30, 2 30-40, 1 50-60

This William BROOKS lived next to William GASTON, and two houses from George A. THRASH. Next were Elizabeth THRASH, Nancy SWANSON and John THRASH.

I cannot find this William BROOKS in 1850.

I have a William J. BROOKS who was born somewhere in GA in 1832. He fits in the 5-10 category above. The male and female 20-30 could be his parents. He married Mary Jane SWANSON in Troup in 1854. Mary Jane was a daughter of Nathan SWANSON, deceased, and Nancy on this census. Nancy was a daughter of the George A. THRASH above. I cannot find my William J. on an 1850 or 1860 census, but he was in Harris in 1870 and 1880.

I am trying to find the father of my William J. BROOKS. I have two prospects- the one above and a William who was 18 on the Jasper County 1850 census. He was a son of Hiram BROOKS who had children with the same names as my William J. in Harris. Hiram sold land in Troup in 1836, but probably did not move there. Hiram's Uncle Bevin BROOKS also lived in Troup. I think. There was a Ghaston near Hiram on one Jasper Co. census. One more clue is that Hiram was connected to TRAYLORs. Both Troup and Jasper had TRAYLORs.

I would greatly appreciate any information concerning these BROOKS.

Shirley Harvey Horne Sun Jul 10 16:06:28 2005

BROOKS - SWANSON - THRASH - DANIEL - WALKER

Ann Lackey Thu Jul 14 18:08:59 2005
Does anyone know what happened to the William BROOKS family that appeared in Mountville on the 1840 Troup County census? William was 60-70, female (wife) was 50-60; Couple 20-30, male and female child 5-10; two females 30-40. I cannot find this family in GA in 1850 or 1860. Of course, I have no names for clues.

I am looking for the father of William J. BROOKS who was born somewhere in GA in 1832. He married Mary Jane SWANSON in Troup Co. in 1854. They were on the 1870 and 1880 Harris Co. censuses.

On that 1840 census, William's family was near Mary Jane SWANSON's mother, Nancy Thrash SWANSON, widow of Nathan SWANSON. Her father, George A. THRASH lived next to William BROOKS.

I would appreciate any clues about this family.

Jean Fri Nov 4 21:14:55 2005
