I saw Vern Erickson's letter of August 11, 2000. He said he was interested in the COPUS / COPAS family that moved to Crawford County, WI from Ohio in the 1850s. A new family moved into my neighborhood, here in Cedar Falls, Iowa, a short while ago. Their name is "COPUS," and they moved here from Ontario, Canada. They have also lived in England, and know about people named "COPUS" who still live there.
I would be interested in exchanging information, and I think they would, also.

Anson CLARK married Emily (LEWIS) LADD 17 Jan 1854, LaGrange Co., IN. He was probably the son of Thomas CLARK of Ohio and she the daughter of Olmstead LEWIS of Clarence, NY. They had a son William David CLARK in 1850 in LaGrange. The family disappears from Ohio. Family tradition says they moved to Wisconsin. Son William David CLARK reappears as an employee of the Grand Rapids Indiana RR in 1887. I can find no further record of Anson or Emily. Any assistance appreciated.
