James HAIGHT was born 19 December 1776 in Philipsburg, Westchester Co., New York. His wife, Rebecca SLATER, was born 04 June 1774. In about 1803 they moved to Fenner, Madison County, NY, and lived on what became "Bacon Farm." (1) Seth A. HAIGHT married to Clarissa MERRIAM (2) Sarah HAIGHT (died in infancy) (3) David B. HAIGHT married to Orilla B. BALLOU (4) Amy HAIGHT (5) William Henry HAIGHT married to Sarah CLARK & Cornelia CUSHING (6) Sylvester HAIGHT (7) Amana Marie HAIGHT (8) Ann Mariah HAIGHT married to Hiram HALL (his second wife appears to be Mrs. Henrietta E. PIERSON) (9) Andrew Amos HAIGHT married to Emily STOWELL (10) James HAIGHT (died in childhood)

Some members of this family are buried on the Bacon Farm, Bingley, Chittenango, Madison Co., New York. Others rest in Ballou Cemetery, Madison Co., New York. Still others are in Evergreen Cemetery, Village of Cazenovia, Madison Co., New York.

We are interested in learning more about this family. Will gladly share what information we currently have.

Looking for any info about John EVERTON (and any other EVERTONs associated with Madison/Chenango Co, NY) and his family, who was one of original settlers of Nelson, New York. He possibly may have died between 1810 and 1820. His wife's name may have been Elizabeth. He supposedly came there from Vermont with his 3 sons about 1793.

He may be my great-great-great-great-grandfather if he had a son named Ira EVERTON (also spelled EVERDON / EVERDEN) who moved to Switzerland Co, Indiana with his widowed mother Elizabeth by 1820.

If his John EVERTON's wife was Elizabeth, she (and her family) is considered a pioneer settler for Switzerland County, Indiana. They 1st appeared in the 1820 census for Switzerland Co (under the mis-spelled surname of "EVIDENT"). The spelling of the name changed to EVERDON, and Ira EVERDON (who may be son of John EVERTON) filed bankruptcy in Switzerland Co, In about 1844, and then moved with his entire family about 1847-1849 to Crawford County, IN (both Switzerland Co and Crawford Co are located in far southern Indiana and both border the Ohio River).
Any info appreciated!
Karen L. Everdon
