CRAW(E)

Darla Bedford Moe Wed Oct 6 16:55:56 2004
David K. CRAW is listed in the 1870 Hamilton, Madison Co, NY census as age 51, wife Roxie as age 46, and children John M. age 8 and Grace age 14. I am trying to determine if the child John CRAW grew up to marry Eva D. WALKER, and so, is my ancestor. There is a question as to whether Eva D. WALKER, b. 1868,daughter of Marcus (Mark) Josiah WALKER and Orpha E. (DAVENPORT) WALKER, married Dr. John Mortimer CRAWE, Jr., son of Dr. John Mortimer CRAWE, Sr., or whether she married John M. CRAW, son of David K. CRAW. I can find nothing about the family of David K. CRAW.
Hoping to resolve this mystery! Darla Moe

THOMPSON

Denny Thompson Thu Oct 7 18:45:39 2004
Thomas THOMPSON [b.1753] Sold his land in Pelham, MA abt.1810 moving his family to, Madison Center, Madison Co. His son Isaac [1779-1811] is belived buried in the Old Meeting House Hill buring Ground, as his marker was once identitified there. It would seem Thomas, and other family members may be there too. Thomas' son Andrew THOMPSON [1777-1850] also lived with his family here, according to 1820 and 1830 Census Records, but moved on before 1840.

Would appreciate much any advice on how to locate any deed, birth, death , town, or chuch records that may survive to learn more of these ancestors. Thank You

I am searching for information on Noel JOHNSON, b. 1765 in Coventry, RI, son of Jonathan and Elizabeth (YATES) JOHNSON. He married in 1787 in Pownal, VT, Mary WEAVER, daughter of Rufus and Hannah WEAVER. By 1800, he was living in Cazenovia, Madison County, where he stayed at least until 1835, when he and his wife sold their farm in Cazenovia, plus 77 acres in Nelson. Census records indicate he had several children. Who were they and where did they go? JOHNSONs named Weaver (or Webber), Elias, David, and John were living near him in Cazenovia as shown by the 1820 and 1830 census. Were they his sons?

STEVENS

Stuart Scott Thu Oct 14 14:57:02 2004
I am interested in corresponding with anyone who knows about Elizur [Elijah] STEVENS - who was transported to Tasmania in 1838 on the convict ship The Buffalo for his participation in the Canadian Rebellion of 1837-1838. I have just published a book on the transportees and have included information about STEVENS in it, but would like to know more about his life after he returned from Tasmania or his life before he became involved in the 1838 cross-border raids.

See http://www.1837rebellion.net for more information about me and my interest in this Lewis County person.

DeGEORGE - RAO

Roxann Rao Sat Oct 16 12:06:46 2004
I am looking for information on my grandfather, Vincenzo RAO and his first wife, Anna (DeGEORGE) RAO who died during childbirth January 1921. She delivered my uncle Dominick RAO.

Vincenzo (Vincent) went back to Italy to marry her sister Girolama DeGEORGE. He then returned to Canastota. Stories from family members differ, as far as when Anna and Vincenzo arrived initially. I can not find any record on Girolama arriving through Ellis Island. I have also been told he did some prison time for murder, due to his "connections". He was a house painter. I am not sure when or where he lived in Canastota. My uncles were born in Canastota, Dominick, Vincent and my Dad, John.
Do you have any record of Vincenzo, Anna and Girolama residing in Canastota?
Thank you for your time and effort.

LANSING

Jeanne Fromm Thu Oct 21 19:27:59 2004
My ancestor, Jacob LANSING, is reported to have died at Cazenovia, New York in 1813. He would have been 44 years old. The Union Cemetery burial list, on NY GenWeb site for Madison Co., includes a Jacob LANSING, age 14. Is there any way to check the accuracy of this item? Does the cemetery have records and where would I write? Thanks.
