LYON

Steve Iverson Thu Oct 12 12:33:56 2006
The Rev. Moses LYON lived in Madison county, NY in the 1870 to 1880 range. He was a prominent minister and preached on a circuit earlier in his life. He instigated the construction of the M.E. church in Sullivan. The last I could find was him living in Sullivan with his wife Ann at age 70.

Does anyone know where in the county he might be buried? I do not have a date of death for him. Please email me if you find him buried in a cemetery in Madison county or anywhere for that matter. I am assuming his wife Ann would be buried next to him.

CARR

Robert Thu Oct 12 14:21:01 2006
I have an ancestor named Thomas CARR who served in the Civil War from NY. His war records state that his birth was in what looks like "Barn Castle" NY. FamilySearch.org shows this guy as born in "Barn Castle" Madison County NY.
I cannot find the name of any such community. Does anyone know if there was ever a community with such a name in Madison County? (a vanished community?).
Thanks in advance.

WHEELER

Richard Wheeler Mon Nov 6 16:16:45 2006
I am seeking information on Daniel WHEELER, an early settler in Lebanon, Chenango County (before Madison County), NY from 1797 until his untimely death December 25, 1806 (age 35) in Lebanon. His wife’s name was Amanda WHEELER, who after his death, in a second marriage, became Amanda LAPHAM. She died in Eaton on April 22, 1869 at age 92. Daniel had a brother in Lebanon with him at the time named Elisha WHEELER.

Elisha WHEELER lived in the area until his death on December 21, 1836, age 68. Daniel and Amanda WHEELER had five children. I would like to find out their names. Additionally, I’d like to find out where Daniel and his wife came from, before arriving in Chenango County in 1797. It is reported he came from Chatham, Columbia County, NY. It is possible he was actually born in Connecticut and as a child removed to Chatham, Columbia County with his family. Then, as young adults, they (Daniel and Elisha) again removed to Lebanon, Chenango County, NY.

Should you have any information on this matter I would appreciate hearing from you. I have data on WHEELER descendents from Lebanon, Otselic and on to Syracuse I can share.
Best regards, Richard Wheeler

BRIGHAM - CASE - HOWE

bonnie Wed Nov 8 16:29:26 2006
I have hit a road block. My great, great, great grandfather was Jonas BRIGHAM Jr. He married Susannah HOWE in Sudbury, MA and moved to Eaton, NY. They had several children, and I am looking for any birth records for one of their sons, John BRIGHAM. John was born in Eaton and married Lydia CASE. They had two sons, Albert BRIGHAM born 1844 and George BRIGHAM born 1846, both born in Eaton.

I have information verifying John and Lydia's marriage and the burial of Jonas Jr. with his wife and son Henry in Morrisville, NY.

Any help that any one could give would be appreciated. I live in Florida and research in Eaton is almost impossible for me.
Thank you all,
Bonnie

HEAD - MASON

Tim Culler Wed Nov 8 21:45:01 2006
My Great-Grandfather was named Leroy Mason HEAD. He married my Great-Grandmother, Charlotte Euretta NASH prior to 1895, since my Grandmother, Esther Marion HEAD was born June 30,1895 in Cortland, Tioga County, NY (that was where the NASH family was from). They were divorced (quite a scandal) in 1897.

I have no records on Leroy Mason HEAD, but I have reason to believe that the HEAD family was from Madison County, possibly Georgetown.

I’m a Dane searching for all available information of Andrew Martin FREDRICKSON born as Andreas Martin FREDERIKSEN on the 18th October 1851 in Jutland, Denmark. He arrived at Ellis Island on the 11th of September 1889.
